Rev'd David Tully, Rector
David was brought up in Newcastle and went to a sleepy local church with his family. Faith became real to him though the Christian Union at his school. He met his wife Christine at university in Durham in the 1970s and they married after they graduated. After teaching geography for 3 years , he went to theological college at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. David was ordained in 1984 and has served in various NE parishes – north and south of the Tyne, before he came to Chester-le-Street in 2009. He was Newcastle United club chaplain for 17 years. David adores playing and watching sport – and he enjoys hill walking. He has 3 grown up children and became a grandfather in 2012.
Rev'd Jon Wilkinson, Associate Vicar
Jon was born in Yorkshire but following several moves spent his teenage years in Norfolk. He worked in a bank but eventually his path to becoming a minister led him to university, followed by work with ‘The Missions to Seafarers’ in Singapore, and finally theological college. Jon is married to Libby who is also a minister, and they have two daughters, Rebecca and Hannah. In his spare time Jon loves hill walking especially in the Lake District, playing golf, and exploring local history.
Rev'd Danie Lindley, Curate
Danie grew up going to church all around the country as her family moved regularly. She finally moved to Waldridge in 1997 and has attended Parish South from 2002 when her children were very small. She is a full time teacher at our church school, Chester-le-Street CE Primary, and is available on Sundays and some nights in the week. She is married with two teenage sons and enjoys spending time with them and her husband, eating out, watching films and going away; especially enjoying camping in the Lake District or Cornwall. She has three dogs and four chickens at home and spends a lot of time walking on the fell and enjoying her garden.
Rev. Mark Harrison, Curate
Mark began life in Stockton-on-Tees and his journey to faith began at St Peter's Church Yarm Road and deepened two miles further up the road at All Saints Preston-on-Tees. The story between these miles is full of twists and turns and includes God-filled moments that culminated in meeting and marrying Julie. In 1987, they went to Christchurch and studied at Moorlands College, with Mark preparing for Pastoral leadership. After 15 years of experience in church ministry he returned to the Polymer Industry becoming an Applications Engineer. In 2009 he joined a very lively Anglican church and for seven years served on the staff team before entering into ministerial training. After studies at Cranmer Hall, Durham University, he was ordained as the Curate of St Mary and St Cuthbert’s Church, CLS in July 2018. Marks interests include, travel, making bespoke furniture and playing the guitar. He has four grown up children, and a growing number of grandchildren.
Susan White - Youth and Children’s coordinator
Sue came to work in the parish in September 2016. She lives in Gateshead with her son Anthony. She came to faith in Christ in 2002 through the baptism of her son and the help of her local church. Sue was the community development worker in Gateshead parish for 3 years before she came to this post. In Gateshead a lot of her work was with children and families. She loves cooking and playing badminton with Anthony.
Jan Rowland, Church Secretary
Jan has worked in the Parish Office for 8 years, firstly on a part time basis and now full time. She grew up attending the Methodist Church at Esh Winning and became a Christian in her teenage years. After getting married and moving to Chester-le-Street she continued to worship at Esh Winning for a time but when family came along it became a priority to find a church more local with children and youth work. She is married to Malcolm and they have two children, Leanne and Daniel. She attends Parish South and enjoys helping in church children’s activities, spending time with friends and family and cooking.
