Churches Together

Churches Together in Chester-le-Street is part of Churches Together North-East and Churches Together in England, which came into being in 1991.

There are 6 churches in Chester le Street: Saint Cuthbert's Roman Catholic Church, The Salvation Army, The United Reformed Church, The Methodist Church, Evangel Pentecostal Church and our Anglican Parish Church of Saint Mary and Saint Cuthbert.

"Churches Together" exists to further the cause of Christian Unity by sharing fellowship wherever possible and to show a shared concern for evangelism to those of our town who do not know Jesus Christ.

The organizing committee has representatives from each church and together with the clergy they organise events such as:

Events of witness to the community:-

The Good Friday march of witness through the town, following the cross to the market place, where an open air service is held.

We take a role with the council in organising the lighting of the Christmas lights in the town centre.

Together we run 'Healing on the Streets' once a week in the Market Place.

The clergy also meet together every month.
